    MadWorld Mini-Review

    MadWorld
    SEGA
    $29.99
    Wii

    A With Both Hands mini-review

I had been eagerly awaiting MadWorld. I was waiting for it to go on sale, and I was excited when I finally picked it up last weekend. The comic-book style visuals and gritty premise looked promising.

I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed. Not with the art, which was indeed well done, even bold. The controls are above-average, I was moving along pretty well after 15 minutes or so. Loading times are even pretty good.

The problem is the game just has no class whatsoever. Shocking, I know. But there is a line, and this game crossed it decisively. I was not expecting anything but shocking gory violence, and I still didn't like what I saw. Brutal is simply the word for it. I recently played through No More Heroes on the Wii, and that game also features ridiculous violence and gallons of blood, but there is a difference. A shred of humanity perhaps? Some kind of narrative that places the madness in context? Even a touch of irony?

There is nothing in MadWorld but base crudity. I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to anyone.
